Green Jobs Arizona
A coalition of major worker organizations and leading public interest groups rooted in Arizona who have united for strong community benefits for advanced manufacturing projects.

Our Vision
An important opportunity in electrifying and decarbonizing the transportation and energy sectors is unfolding in Arizona. The state has received $10.8 billion in investments for green manufacturing sectors in the last ten years. It is vitally important that these jobs are non-extractive, fair, and just for the workers and community members that ensure the success of these manufacturing projects.
Our vision for good, community-supporting jobs includes good wages and benefits, robust health and safety provisions, high-road training and economic mobility for the construction, production, and service workers who will make the expansion of a green manufacturing economy a reality.
What is a Community Benefit Agreement?
A community benefits agreement (CBA) is a private contract between community groups and a company designed to achieve high-road job standards, advance equity in the workplace, and other enforceable commitments. A CBA should at least consist of the following elements:
Union Jobs
Having unionized jobs allows businesses to operate more efficiently and increase productivity by prioritizing the collective needs of their workers. Union jobs have also been known to reduce turnover and costs for businesses while paying workers fairly.
Targeted Hiring Commitments
Commitments to hire from local underrepresented and marginalized communities can increase job access, reduce barriers to employment, and improve economic security for workers from these groups.
High Road Training Partnerships
Partnerships with apprenticeship training programs can ensure a skilled, diverse, and inclusive workforce that can meet operational demands for emerging industries, especially in manufacturing.
Environmental Justice
As the climate crisis progresses, Arizona will face increased drought and extreme heat. Protecting air, water, and soil quality through project mitigation is imperative to a just transition for all people.
